I stand in strong support of the GMO Labeling Resolution, and believe that Hawaii consumers deserve transparency in food labeling. Hawaii consumers deserve the right to know if GMOs are in our food /food products because the public deserves the right to make educated choices about the food /food products they purchase. Both Maui County & Kaui County have voted in favor of the GMO Labeling Resolution. I strongly urge Hawaii & Oahu council members to do the same. In addition to supporting the GMO Labeling Resolution, Maui County has begun to address valid concerns on GMO agriculture by adopting countywide policy plans that include: - maintaining the genetic integrity of existing food crops - encouraging healthy & organic farm practices that contribute to land health & regeneration - encouraging methods of monitoring and controlling genetically modified crops to prevent adverse effects - publicly identifying, with signage & other means, the field locations of all genetically modified crops - creating agricultural parks in areas distant from genetically modified crops Thank you for supporting GMO Labeling Resolution, HSAC Communication 480. Sincerely, Mary Traynor Hawaii Voter & Concerned Citizen Mary Traynor Akamai Promotions www.AkamaiPromotions.net (808) 876 -1012 12/7/2011 c- on ca Zc, Comm. No. p0 • l Ref. To: Do; Date QFC 2Q1`-
