Date NOV 1 f q11 WHO ARE WE The Hilo Skate Plaza Coalition is an organiza- tion made up of community member from all walks of life.We are dedicated to serving our communities and providing a safe environ- ment for a variety of recreational activities through the building of the Hilo Skate Plaza. Our organization works directly with the non - profit organization Big Island Resource Conservation and Development and is in the process of obtaining our own 501 c.3 non- profit status. Big Island Resource Conservation & Development !'t.i•1rLaA i:1 With our many upcoming fundraising and public outreach events, the Hilo Skate Plaza Coalition is always looking for people in our community to volunteer. Help is needed mostly with our Public Relations committee (PR) and Fundraising committee.You may sign up at any one of our events or contact us via email, phone or visit us on our face - book page. We also hold biweekly meetings at the Hawaii Board of Realtors conference room on Wainuenue. Our meetings are open to the public and we welcome fresh faces and ideas. Because we are working directly with the Big Island Resource Conservation and Develop- ment who has taken us under their 50I c.3 non - profit status, all donations are tax de- ductable. But it's not all about the money.We are also looking for donations of pro -bono services and materials.The Hilo Skate Plaza Coalition will need people with a variety of knowledge, skills and abilities at different stages during this projects development and implementa- tion. To work with the community at all levels to develop a safe recreational and competitive arena that will serve current and future gen- erations of athletes and those that support the alternative sports, lifestyles and art forms of the people from around Hawaii and the World. CONCEPTUAL LAYOUT The HSC, a network of professional, motivated adults and community leaders, holds regular meetings with Parks and Recreation County Hawaii in discussion and anticipation of this project.Through these meetings we have communicated the need for the Skateplaza and the positive impact it will have on the County of Hawaii.A 2.53 ac. parcel of land located in the Ho'olulu Sports Complex has been agreed upon between Hawaii County's Department of Parks and Recre- ation and the Hilo Skateplaza Coalition as a suitable location.The HSC is com- prised of concerned members of the community and have met the excitement and anticipation of the youth through various efforts.We have received positive responses from the community through numerous public relations and fundrais- ing events such as: - Consistent public organizational meetings - Community pe- titions - Production of a short promotional video with testimonials - Numerous successful fundraising events - Ongoing public relations campaigns Hilo Skateplaza Coalition 794 Kilauea Ave. Hilo, HI 96720 (808) 969 -ROLL hiloskateplazacoalition @gmail.com
