Larry Ford, treasurer for the campaign to elect Brenda Ford, said Citizens For Kona spent more than $1,000 on adver- tisements in support of County Councilwoman Virginia Isbell before it was registered as a political action committee. Barbara Wong, executive director of the state Campaign Spending Commission, con- firmed the complaint had been received and docketed. She said the commission was investigat- ing the claims and would likely issue a decision on the matter today. Larry Ford said he filed the complaint after noticing the number of ads being financed by Citizens For Kona, which listed its address as 78 -630 Ihilani St., the home address of Rick Vidgen, a Kailua -Kona Realtor, and his wife, Jeanette Vidgen, an employee . of . After the shooting, 23 -year- old Jeffrey B: Santos Jr. then placed the body of Daysha Iwalani Aiona Aka in her car and set the vehicle on fire, an arrest report states. Police , the alleged crime occrred Nov. 1 on Quarry Road, near Stainback Highway. Aiona Aka's body was identi- fied through dental records. An autopsy concluded that she died front a gunshot wound to her head. "Santos told me this murder was witnessed by Santos's and Aiona Aka's two-year-old son; !bewail County Police Detective Robert Hatton wrote in an pmt report, noliog that Santos had been advised of his rights to remain silent and have an attorney. "Santos further stated that he then placed Aiona Aka's lifeless body into Aiona Aka's 2003 Mazda Protege and set the vehide on fire with Aiona Aka within. Aiona Aka's family are caring for the boy and requested that his name not be published. Santos appeared in court Monday for arraignment on second - degree murder, arson and gun vio- lations. The restraining order petition filled out by Aiona Aka stated that he frequently physically abused her during their six -year • relationship and threatened to shoot her and her family. He was charged with abuse of a family/ household member in August.
