Subject: Response to Questions Posed by Council Member Ford Regarding
the Transfer of$25,000 for the Purchase of 4 Storage Containers at
the Hilo Solid Waste Baseyard
Transfer of Funds–January 1 to January 15,2012
Dear Chairman Yagong and Council Members,
The Division is in need of dry storage space for weather sensitive equipment,parts,and tools. The
storage space that was previously used needed to be demolished due to its badly deteriorated condition.
Funds are available in the Repairs to Facilities account as other repairs can be deferred in order to meet
this higher priority need.
Funds are needed in the Equipment account to purchase shipping containers to be used for storage.
As requested by Council Member Ford,a map of the Hilo Landfill site indicating container locations is
enclosed for your review.
