COUNTY OF HAWAII - - : STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 220 12 <br /> (DRAFT 2) <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) FOR THE FOOD BASKET, INC. <br /> WHEREAS, Chapter 2, Article 25, Section 2-139(a)(3)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code <br /> (2005 Edition as amended) states, "Grants in excess of$25,000 to nonprofit organizations shall <br /> specifically identify the organization receiving the grant and the purpose for which the grant <br /> shall be used in an ordinance or resolution"; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Food Basket, Inc., serving as Hawai`i Island's Food Bank, (hereinafter <br /> "Food Basket") is an island-wide non-profit food network that collects and distributes nutritious <br /> food to low income families, the ill and disabled, senior citizens, children's programs and other <br /> charitable non-profit organizations; and <br /> WHEREAS, a substantial contribution to the Food Basket would permit this <br /> organization to purchase and/or to use as matching funds to purchase food supplies; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Clerk stated at the Special Finance Committee Meeting <br /> held on March 30, 2011, "we've asked for the grant and we've not yet heard back, provided that <br /> we receive the grant from Na Leo, we would not need to budget for that item;" and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawai`i County Council had budgeted for Fiscal Year 2011-2012 for <br /> the purpose of videotaping an amount of$120,220 prior to receiving notification of the Na Leo <br /> `0 Hawai`i grant; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Hawai`i County Council has received a grant from Na Leo `0 Hawai`i <br /> in the amount of$75,000 to fund the production costs for the videotaping of Council meetings <br /> for the period of July 1, 2011 through June 30, 2012; and <br /> WHEREAS, on December 21, 2011, the Hawai`i County Council adopted Resolution <br /> No. 198-12, Draft 2 which strongly urged the Mayor to allocate not less than $500,000 from the <br /> 2011-2012 operating budget immediately for the Food Basket to address a dire need; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br /> following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
