Your Committee on Human Services, Social Services and Public Safety, to which was referred
Communication No. 533, reports as follows:
Communication No. 533,transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated January 9, 2012, nominates
Mr. James"Kimo"Lee of Council District 2 to serve on the County of Hawaii Fire Commission.
Chair K. Angel Pilago relinquished the chairmanship to Vice-Chair J Yoshimoto and he assumed chairmanship
of the Human Services, Social Services, and Public Safety Committee.
The Mayor's Executive Assistant, Charmaine Shigemura, introduced Mr. Lee, who is a lifelong resident of
Hawai`i and has been employed by WH Shipman, Ltd., as the Director of Development. Mr. Lee currently
serves on the State of Hawai`i Burial Council and the County of Hawai`i Workforce Investment Board. He is
a member of Hospice of Hawai`i and the Catholic Church's Land Asset Committee. He states that he is not
affiliated with any political party.
Mr. Lee was nominated and confirmed to this position in 2010,to serve the remainder of a term that ended on
December 31, 2011. He is,therefore,eligible to serve a new full term and, if confirmed,that tenure will expire
on December 31,2016.
Mr. Lee is not required to be present at full Council for final confirmation.
Your Committee on Human Services, Social Services and Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and
intent of Communication No. 533, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. James
"Kimo"Lee to the County of Hawai`i Fire Commission.
