Dear Councilmembers,
I urge you to support Resolution 171 -11 in support of a Hawaii County Complete Streets
Policy. This Resolution is an important step towards strengthening our Big Island
communities. Our children need safe streets to walk or ride bikes to school. They need a
place to roller skate or skate board on the weekends. Families need a safe place to stroll their
babies or walk their dogs.
Adults and teens should be able to safely walk or ride a bike down a road such as Palani Rd
to go to a store or a movie.
Complete Streets help to make it safer for everyone to get to where they need to go, whether
they are walking, riding a bike, driving a car or riding the bus. In addition, complete streets
help to provide access to physical activity and will help to provide greater mobility choices for
our keiki and kupuna alike.
I strongly urge you to vote in support of Resolution 171 -11.
