P Iccumcat,
I am writing in support of Resolution 80 -11 and for recycling in our county!
It should be obvious that we live on finite resources here on this planet. It should be even more of a
concern being that we just reached 7 Billion people here on the planet this week. This lesson should also
be taken more seriously here on our precious Big Island.
Our environment is what sustains us. It provides our food, our clean air, clean water and supports our
economy in many ways, including tourism. We should be setting the example. For residents and tourist
alike we should be showing the utmost respect to our aina by reducing the amount of resources wasted
by throwing it in the trash. This council should be taking every step necessary to support long term
solutions to waste reduction and resource conservation. I am appalled to here there is a chance that we
would abandon our simple and modest recycling program! We already don't know where to put our
trash and now we want to add more! ??
Please continue to take us down the path of building a model for a sustainable island lifestyle by
supporting recycling and waste reduction of all kinds.
