Subject: Negative testimony Comm 406 (FC -135) , Confirmation Enock Freire Public Access
I wish to express my concern about the appointment of Enock Freire to the Public Access
Commission.
I first met Mr. Freire at a candidate forum when he was running for the County Council. I
tried to ascertain what his priorities were by asking him what his opinion was concerning
the rezoning of O'Oma from conservation land to development. When he replied that he
would have to study the issue before answering, I ascertained that he had indeed lived
here when the controversy was well publicized in the media and told him that I thought he
should have an opinion based on that.
He replied that he could not give me an answer.
Because of that, I assumed that Mr. Freire did not want to give me an answer because he
was in favor of the rezoning and did not want to hurt his chances for election.
I was impressed that he gave a list of the talents that he could bring to this commission,
but I was a bit concerned that he might focus on liability issues when considering which
property to buy.
I believe that Mr. Freire would be a good choice for another commission, but not this
one..
