Testimony Regarding: September 7`h, 2011
Council Bill 270 — Revised Building Code Ola'a, Hawai'i
To: Dominic Yagong , Pete Hoffmann, Donald Ikeda, J.
Yoshimoto, D. Onoshi, Fred Blas, Brittany Smart, Brenda Ford,
and Angle Pilago.
Aloha Council Members,
I humbly beg you not to give into the bulling importunities of the
"Conservative Forum".
It is vital that a safe room be included in new buildings, and the
Building Code strenghted. It is a scientific fact that storms are
worsening, and will continue to worsen. Not acting on these
known scientific facts leaves the County (and yourselves) wide
open to lawsuits by devastated home - owners as well as
insurance companies.
We must be guided by facts, not by beliefs. Considering the fact
that the "Conservative Forum" does not believe in scientific data
does not make that data magically disappear.
Have courage, the people of Hawai'i are watching. The wrath of
these bullies is short term, and I am sorry you must endure it. The
good of sound, well -built homes will last for generations.
