I would like to voice my opposition to the proposed bill (Bill 17, Draft 2) that would ban the use
of plastic bags. I feel strongly that this should be an individual's personal choice. Many people
like myself reuse the plastic bags we obtain for other purposes, and that would mean we would
have to buy other types of products for those uses and that would end up producing even more
waste for our landfills.
The key is to educate consumers about the proper disposal of these products and to work with
the manufacturers of plastic bags to make sure that they are degradable.
