RESOLUTION NO. 237 12
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
FIRE RESCUE EQUIPMENT FOR USE BY THE HAWAII FIRE
DEPARTMENT'S FIRE RESCUE AND OCEAN SAFETY DIVISIONS
WHEREAS, the Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation is donating Fire Rescue
Equipment to the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this equipment consists of the following:

2 Arizona Vortex rappelling systems $ 1,645.00
7 Cabela's Gore-Tex parkas and bibs $ 1,895.24
1 14" cut-off saw $ 1,880.25
7 Rope rescue kits and bags $ 2,965.00
2 Garmin GPS units $ 1,007.98
7 Swift water vests $ 2,635.83
2 Rescue boards $ 2,350.00
1 Rescue boat tow bar $ 3,677.93
TOTAL: $18,057.23
; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, with a total value of$18,057.23, will be used by the
Hawai'i Fire Department's Fire Rescue and Ocean Safety Divisions; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides that
the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities
or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts or donations
of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the capitalization procedures
of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution approved by the Council;
and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter 2,
Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
Resolution be sent to Laura Mallery- Sayre, Daniel Sayre Memorial Foundation, P. O. Box
1285, Kailua -Kona, HI 96745, acknowledging this generous donation.
