Re: Operating Budget v --
The County of Hawaii has been awarded a $68,964 federal grant through the State of
Hawaii Department of the Attorney General. These funds are for the purpose of
improving Hawaii County's ability to respond to violent crimes against women through
ongoing specialized training for the Juvenile Aid Section (JAS) detectives focused on
the most current methods in investigating violence against women cases.
A Special Investigative Training account was appropriated for $55,000 in anticipation of
grant funding for FY2011-12. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the
Operating Budget by appropriating an additional $13,964 into this account in order to
accept these funds.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Nori Ishii of the Police
Department at 961-2273.
