We recently allowed presentations by the Hawaii Electric Light Company (HELCO) relating to photovoltaic systems, energy pricing and geothermal; Innovations Development Group, Inc. (IDG) relating to renewable energy resources on the various uses of geothermal; Mr. Richard Ha and Mr. Wally Ishibashi of the Geothermal Working Group relating to geothermal use; and to OTEC International LLC (OTI) relating to ocean thermal energy. These organizations have been allowed a 30-minute presentation to the Hawaii County Council. Members of the public who are opposed or have expressed concerns of the expansion of geothermal energy in the County of Hawaii should also be given the same opportunity afforded to pro- geothermal supporters. It is always in the best interest of the public when the Council provides equal opportunities for all parties involved. More importantly, we will be conducting the evening meeting in the Puna District to allow for participation of residents that are most impacted and have expressed the most concerns about geothermal expansion. The Pele Defense Fund will be making a 1-hour presentation to be followed by public testimony. Please attend the special council meeting as it provides our community the opportunity to participate in the ongoing discussion regarding renewable energy development. DY/la Comm. No. G Ref.
