At this Planning Congress, it was readily apparent that Hawaii
County Planning Department staff members, Director Raymond Suefuji,
Norman Hayashi, Ilima Piianaia, Francis Saiki, Kaoru Nagai, Harold
Oba, and David Murakami and Robert Yanabu of the Department of
Public Works made significant contributions to the success of the
Congress with their expertise, professional input and willingness
to participate in the forums and discussions. This also holds true
for our Corporation Counsel, Clifford Lum.
It was also apparent that the Hawaii County Planning Department is
recognized as an authority on planning matters.
For your information, this Congress specifically addressed itself
to the concerns of County initiative in planning matters rather
than at State or Federal levels; this concept to be adopted in the
State Policy Plan.
It is requested that copies of this letter of commendation with
your acknowledgment be made a part of each of the above named
individual's personnel record.
