SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
SECTION 24-287 – PASSENGER LOADING ZONES -ALII DRIVE — —W
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10 (Schedules), Division 6 (Loading
Zones), Section 24-287, Schedule 35 (Passenger Loading Zones), subsection (f) Kona be
amended by revising existing item:
(1) Alii Drive, cast NORTH (MAUKA) side, beginning from a point two-hundred-twenty-nine
TWO HUNDRED THIRTY-TWO feet necth WEST of Likana Lane and extending forty
seven FORTY-SIX feet in the noftherly WESTERLY direction, 7:00 A.M.
TO 3:00 P.M. EACH DAY.
This amendment was generated based on a request for the loading zones in the Kailua
Village area to have a start time and end time each day of 7:00 am and 3:00 pm
respectively. The request came from the Hawaii Police Department and received
support from the Kailua Village Business Improvement District. The primary reason for
the request was to open up more parking along Alii Drive. Parking in loading zones is
allowed when the loading zones are not in effect.
