Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. No. 672/Bill No. 232, reports as
follows:
Bill No. 232, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, via Communication No. 672, dated
April 11, 2012, is a Planning Director initiated ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article 2 and
Article 4 of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), relating to Zoning
District Regulations for Crematoriums, Funeral Homes, Funeral Services and Mortuaries. Also
enclosed was a favorable recommendation from the Windward Planning Commission Chair
Zendo Kern and Leeward Planning Commission Chair Geraldine Giffin.
Council Member Yagong moved to amend Bill 232 with the contents of Communication 672.1
to correct a clerical error. Bill 232 was amended with a vote of eight ayes to one absent. For
informational purposes, Council Member Ford voted"kanalua"twice.
Council Member Ford explained that this bill fixes some errors that the Planning Department
found in her previous bill and asked all Council Members to support it.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill 232, as amended to
Draft 2, and recommends its passage on first reading.
