ORDINANCE NO. 12 55
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE 10, DIVISION 2 OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO MOVING
VEHICLES.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this measure is to reverse the yield direction to
provide improved sight distance and added safety for crossing the bridge.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10, Division 2, Section 24-265(a), Hawai'i
County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended), is amended to read as follows:
(a) Hamakua
(1) Ka'apahu Road, east approach to Kalopa Gulch Bridge, No. 44-7, eight hundred
thirty-five feet northwest of Ho'o Kahua Road.
(2) Ka'apahu Road, east approach to Kalopa Gulch Bridge No. 44-7, one thousand
two hundred twenty-seven feet northwest of Ho'o Kahua Road.
(3) Old Mamalahoa Highway, southbound approach to Bridge No. 47-1.
(4) Old Mamalahoa Highway, westbound approach to Bridge No. 47-2.
(5) Old Mamalahoa Highway, eastbound approach to Bridge No. 47-3.
(6) Old Mamalahoa Highway, westbound approach to bridge adjacent to parcels 4-7-
7:4, 4-7-7:19, and 4-7-7:90.
(7) Old Mamalahoa Highway, westbound approach to bridge adjacent to parcels 4-7-
7:8 and 4-7-7:9.
(8) Pohakea Homestead Road, makai bound at the narrow bridge (bridge number
43-5), located 1.6 miles west of State Highway 19.
(9) Kalopa Road, westbound approach to Bridge No. 44-9.
(10) Kalopa Road, westbound approach to Bridge No. 44-10.
(11) Kalopa Road, [east]westbound approach to Bridge adjacent to parcels 4-4-2:5,
4-4-2:6, 4-4-9:3, and 4-4-9:8.
(12) Kalopa Road, eastbound approach to Bridge adjacent to parcels 4-4-3:42, 4-4-
4:6, 4-4-6:1, and 4-4-8:48.
SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and
underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application
thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other
provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid
provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be
severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
