ORDINANCE NO. 12 48
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24, ARTICLE, 10, DIVISION 5 OF THE HAWAII
COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION. AS AMENDED), RELATING TO PARKING.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII:
SECTION 1. The purpose of this measure is to address the Hawaii Police Department's
concerns in this area and their desire to convert this part of Ka`ahumanu Place to a non stopping.
standing or parking zone instead.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, Article 10- Division 5, Section 24-280, Schedule 28. No parki;tp. at
aiminie, subsection (t). Kona, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 edition, as amended). is aincnd:d
to read as follows:
(f) Kona
(1) Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona, makai side, from a point approximately four hundred
feet south of Hualalai Road to the junction of Alii Drive with Kai lua-Keai_1l,ou
Middle Road, in the vicinity of the Kona Hilton flotel.
(2) Alii Drive, makai side, for a distance of one hundred feet on either side of each
driveway into Kahalu`u Beach Park.
(3) Alii Drive in Kaihaa-Kona, makai side, between Kailua Bay Wharf and 1 i:ala!�I
Reef Road.
(4) Alii Drive in Kona. makai side, beginning at a point one hun,"red thirl.y sr- ,th

Lunapule Road and extending three hundred fifty feet in the ha'u

(8) Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona. mauka side, along the concrete curt) facing J -,c
banyan tree and facing the Kailua Bay seawall.
(9) Alii Drive in Kailua-Kona, mauka side. between Kailua Ba} Wharf and 11tialalai
Road, except for those marked Freight Leading Zones in the vicinities of the
Moku` aikaua Church and the Kona Galley.
(10) Alii Drive, mauka side, beginning at a point one thousand five hundred fifty feet
north of La'aloa Avenue to Walua Road.
(11) Alii Drive, beginning at a point thirty-five feet north of Royal Poinciana Drive
and extending southward for a distance of two hundred seventy-six feet.
(12) Alii Drive, mauka side, Kamehameha III Road to Makole'a Street.
(13) Alii Drive, mauka side, beginning at a point nine hundred thirty-five fees north o'
Makole`a Street and extending to a point one thousand eighty feet north of
La'aloa Avenue.
(14) Belt Highway, mauka side, beginning at Station 8+00 across the Honalo Shopping
Center and extending 0.4 mile in the .southerly direction.
(15) Captain Cook, on the west side of Route 11, beginning at a point 0.15 mile south
of Nap6`opo'o Road (Palipoko Road) intersection for a distance of four hundred
feet in a southerly direction.
(16) Hanama Place, from its terminus to a point one hundred eighty feet in the
southerly direction, except the fifty-five foot section on the makai side fronting
the Kailua Trade Center.
(17) Hanama Place, on the southeast side from Kuakini Highway and extending >nab:ai
for a distance of four hundred feet.
(18) Hina-Lani Street, Queen Ka'ahumanu Highway to Kamanu Street.
(19) H6naunau Beach Road, both sides, from City of Refuge Access Road and
extending three hundred fifty feet west.
(20) H6naunau Beach Road, east side, from a point two hundred ninety feet north of
the H6naunau Boat Ramp and extending three hundred seventeen feel in the
northerly direction.
(21) Hooper Road, Mamalahoa Highway to its northern terminus.
(22) Hualalai Road, between Kuakini Highway and Alii Drive.
(23) Kahakai Road, both sides, except the six hundred forty foot section on the mauka
side fronting the Kona Hilton Hotel parking lot.
(24) Kailua Bay seawall, extending forty feet eastward along the seawall from the
western end of the seawall beside the Kailua Wharf in Kailua-Kona

SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. Nev, material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed and stricken material and
underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 4. Severability. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof
to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or

applications of the ordinance which can be gix en effect without the invalid provision or application.
and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
