Re: Proposed Amendments to Resolution No. 251 -12

Please find attached for your consideration proposed amendments to Resolution No. 251 -12. The
proposed amendments increase the amount of funds to be transferred by $15,000 and change the
title to reflect the added use of the funds. The additional funds would be used to cover necessary
repairs and upgrades to the audio - visual system and to cover the costs of video conference
equipment for a Ka`u location. The proposed amendment is illustrated below in Ramseyer
format with respect to the contents of Resolution No. 251 (material to be deleted is bracketed and
stricken through; material to be added is underscored).
1. The title is amended to read as follows:
"A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION
OUT AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING
SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S), RELATING TO PURCHASE
OF COMPUTERS AND VIDEO CONFERENCING EQUIPMENT."
2. The second WHEREAS clause is amended to read as follows:
"WHEREAS, in order for the Legislative Branch to conduct its business in an efficient
and timely manner, new computer equipment must be purchased to replace the outdated
and non - working computers; [now, therefore,]and"
3. A new third WHEREAS clause is inserted to read as follows:
"WHEREAS, purchases are needed for the maintenance of the audio -video system in the
Hilo council chambers as well as new equipment for a Ka`u video conferencing location;
now, therefore,"

4. The BE IT RESOLVED clause is amended to read as follows:
"BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the
following amount be and is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below:

A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING /APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM THE DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S) AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT(S), RELATING TO PURCHASE OF COMPUTERS
AND VIDEO CONFERENCING EQUIPMENT.
WHEREAS, some of the computer equipment that the Legislative Branch
currently uses are either outdated or in need of frequent repairs; and
WHEREAS, in order for the Legislative Branch to conduct its business in an
efficient and timely manner, new computer equipment must be purchased to replace the
outdated and non - working computers; and
WHEREAS, purchases are needed for the maintenance of the audio -video
system in the Hilo council chambers as well as new equipment for a Ka`u video
conferencing location; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
that the following amount be and is hereby transferred /appropriated as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
