RESOLUTION NO. 261 12
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF USED FIRE
APPARATUS TO BE UTILIZED BY THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
ISLAND-WIDE
WHEREAS, the Honolulu Fire Department is donating used fire apparatus to
the Hawaii Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, the equipment consists of three (3) Class A Pumpers and two (2)
1,500 gallon water tankers; and
WHEREAS, this equipment, valued at $5,000 each, for a total value of
$25,000, will be used by the Hawaii Fire Department as back-up to their front-line
fleet (Class A Pumpers) and to support wildland firefighting activities (water tankers);
and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department recommends the acceptance of this
donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13 -12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2- 162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Kenneth Silva, Fire Chief, Honolulu Fire Department, 636 South
Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96813 -5007, acknowledging this generous donation.
