No. 250-12 PLACE: Council Chambers Hilo, Hawai`i TIME: 7:00 p.m. Council Chair and Members Hawai`i County Council Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution No. 250-12, reports as follows: Resolution No. 250-12, transmitted by Council Member Brittany Smart, via Communication No. 697, dated April 20, 2012, urges the State of Hawai`i Department of Transportation to construct a designated pedestrian crossing area for the Volcano Village Community across Mamalahoa Highway, commonly known as Highway 11 or the Hawai`i Belt Road. The State and County have a strong interest in promoting more healthy and economical transportation options for Hawai`i Island residents, such as walking and public transportation and, therefore, should encourage and provide the necessary infrastructure to support these goals.
