COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 262 12 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE OFFICE OF THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN <br />AGREEMENT WITH THE FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION, HONOLULU <br />DIVISION, PURSUANT TO HRS 46 -7, TO ALLOW FOR THE USE OF OFFICE <br />SPACE AT THE HILO POLICE STATION. <br />WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Police Department ( "HCPD ") is the owner of that certain <br />property located at 349 Kapi'olani Street, Hilo, Hawaii ( "Hilo Police Station "); and <br />WHEREAS, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Honolulu Division ( "FBI ") desires to <br />occupy office space in the Hilo Police Station, approximately 10' by 10', for the purpose of <br />facilitating joint investigations; and <br />WHEREAS, the HCPD desires to allow the FBI to use and occupy said office space in <br />the Hilo Police Station; and <br />WHEREAS, the capabilities of law enforcement agencies to investigate and prosecute <br />organized criminal enterprises are enhanced in a setting involving the sharing of resources and <br />expertise between federal, state, and local law enforcement; and <br />WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46 -7, requires that County departments <br />obtain the consent of the Council to enter into agreements with the Federal or State <br />governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to <br />furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or <br />to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in accordance <br />with section 46 -7, Hawai'i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawaii is authorized <br />to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement and related documents with the Federal <br />Bureau of Investigation, Honolulu Division, to allow for the use of designated office space at the <br />Hilo Police Station. <br />
