Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 192-2K, transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro per Communication No. 597, dated December 20, 1999, regarding
the naming of a street in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 192-2K authorizes the approval of street names for roadways within the Ouli
Mutual Self Help Subdivision, South Kohala, Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its December 2, 1999, meeting approved the name for the roadways
as follows:
"Haleola Place" and "Haleola Street"
Pursuant to Section 22-35, Article 2, Chapter 22, Hawaii County Code, the Council is authorized
to adopt the street names of unnamed roadways in the County of Hawaii.
Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on this measure, except for the request by
Committee Member Curtis Tyler to appropriately insert the okinas and kahakos throughout the
text of the resolution to be consistent with the ordinance, which specifies the use of these
diacritical marks, and to list "Haleola Place" and "Haleola Street" separately.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 192-2K as
amended to Resolution No. 192-2K, Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
