Hawaii County Council
Hilo, Hawaii 96720
Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Resolution No. 202-2K, transmitted by
Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro per Communication No. 620, dated January 7, 2000, regarding the
naming of streets in the County of Hawaii, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 202-2K authorizes the approval of street names for roadways within the Ahualoa
Homesteads, Hamakua, Hawaii.
The Planning Commission at its December 17, 1999 meeting approved the names for the
roadways as follows:
"Kalehua Road" meaning "the lehua flower"
"Kinimaka Road" name of a long-time resident (deceased)
Pursuant to Chapter 22, Section 22-35, Article 2, Hawaii County Code, the Council is authorized
to adopt the street names of unnamed roadways in the County of Hawaii.
Your Committee did not entertain any discussion on this measure, except for the request by
Committee Member Curtis Tyler to appropriately insert kahakos in the names Ahualoa and
Hamakua within the text of the resolution.
Your Committee on Planning concurs with the intent and purpose of Resolution No. 202-2K, as
amended to Resolution No. 202-2K, Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
