I understand that on or about October 31, 2011, you requested a duplicate copy of the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 3, from the Office of the County Clerk. The duplicate copy was purchased by you for $2.00. Ten (10) days later, on November 9, 2011, you requested that the Office of the County Clerk refund you $3.00 for this duplicate copy. Your reasons for the refund are as follows: 1) You needed to purchase a duplicate copy of Chapter 3 because it was not available; and 2) You needed it for a meeting. Please be advised that the Office of the County Clerk keeps the Hawai'i County Code, including Chapter 3, for the public to read and review, at no charge. The Hawai'i County Code may also be viewed on the County of Hawai'i website, at no charge. If you request a duplicate copy of the Code for you to take and carry away from the office, the Office of the County Clerk will furnish you with duplicate copies of public documents maintained by the Office of the County Clerk, including the Code. The Office of the County Clerk is authorized to charge the public for these duplicate copies of public documents, pursuant to the rate schedule in the Code.
