Eiko Kajiyama
P.O. Box 647
Pahoa, HI 96778
(808) 965-8583
May 16, 2012
My name is Eiko Kajiyama and I live at 15-2882 Pahoa Village Road. My parents
owned this house before me. I have lived in Pahoa most of my life—I was born in the
homestead above Pahoa School, then moved to Pahoa town across from the Akebono,
then to the house where I live now. I got married, move to Kapoho and, after the
volcanic eruption, moved to Kea'au at the 9 i/2 mile marker. In 1971, I came back to
Pahoa to look after my father. I raised my children in this house in Pahoa and now I take
care of my 88-year-old husband here.
I cannot come to your meeting because I need to look after my husband.
I am writing you because I do not approve of the Pahoa Boutiques and Bungalows.
My husband and I live across the street from the property where they want to put in these
bungalows. We are not planning to move away. We like it here.
I don't want to see the development because I do not think the bungalows, with more
people staying in town over night, will be safe for us elderly.
I don't want anything to be going over there. Keep the house as it is now. The Kujubus
used to stay there, and the next lot was Kumijis. The blue house has always been a house.
It never was a store or anything. Leave the house standing.
You can call me if you want to talk with me this.
Sincerely,
eziA
Eiko Kajiyama
Comm. No. (0 24,3
3
Ref.
