Our Articles of Incorporation(approved under court Civil No. 89-832 under Article VII, section B (2) give the corporation the power to "make improvements to promote safety of the HOVE road system". We want to express two significant points in support of this legislation: 1. The designated truck routes are set on main boulevards which have been set up and maintained at a width of 24' . Truck drivers can stay on the truck routes until they come to the closest secondary street to their destination. Truck route boulevards have been built for safer travel. Ensuring the safety of residents is of primary concern for the corporation. 2. Adopting the proposed truck route plan allows the corporation to achieve annual road plan budgetary goals to maintain and improve our road system. HOVE receives no funding from the County of Hawaii. Amending Bill 251 will provide the Road Maintenance Corporation the ability to carry out its mandate in maintaining, repairing and promoting the safety of all of our 157 miles of roadway. 1 Comm.
