Murashige, Laura Dc, From Katarina Culina [katarina.culina @yahoo.corn] Sent: Monday, May 14, 2012 10:13 PM — • To: counciltestimony @co.hawaii.hi.us Subject: Public testimony for Comm. 710 (Bill 256) hearing 3 To: Members of the Hawai'i County Council From: Katarina Culina As a resident of lower Puna, I fully support Dominic Yagong's Bill 256 that proposes renaming and redefinition of the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Program to the Geothermal Relocation and Public Safety Program. Health problem testimonies of residents living next to a geothermal facility absolutely have to be of a concern to the State. Public health and safety of Puna residents have been neglected and ridiculed by the State for way too long and it is time to right the wrongdoing. It is of utmost importance to enable and streamline relocation of residents impacted by any Geothermal power and toxic gases producing facility. We need Health Studies, Air Monitors and Public Notification System in case of raised toxicity levels. The level of toxic gases is not being mointored properly and the public is being left in the dark on the emergency situations. Buffer zones need to be established to limit the effect of toxic gases on nearby residents. Please support Bill 256 because it guarantees most basic rights of residents. Aloha, Katarina Culina Comm.
