We are opposed to any changes to the Geothermal Relocation and Community Benefits Fund as it is currently written. While it is understandable that the County Council seeks to respond to the outspoken people who testified at the Pahoa Council meeting, we would ask that you postpone action until you have provided an opportunity to hear the other side of the story. There are many of us who would not attend that meeting at Pahoa simply because we knew it would be filled with negativity and outrageous exaggerations. Those people do not represent all of us, but unfortunately they are the loudest and most intimidating in their behavior. Ironically, while living here in Leilani, I never experienced any of the illnesses or conditions that were reportedly caused by the geothermal plant. The original Geothermal Relocation Fund was designed specifically to provide protection to those people who lived within a certain measured zone when the plant was constructed. They were all given notification that they could be relocated, and in one specific case, the person was relocated and she then chose to return to her original house. Now, more than 12 years later, her complaint is that no one has listened to her and she is requesting relocation again. All the other homes were built after the plant was operational, with full knowledge of the geothermal plant. We feel that to expand the relocation program to anyone who moved there knowingly, is a huge mistake and a waste of the County's funds, and we suggest that the Council take time to explore the matter more closely before taking action today. Mahalo for taking time to listen to all of Puna, not just the most vocal. si,rsweci jawet 1-. Kama ph: 965-6671 kama @hawaiiantel.net Comm. No 1/0. Ref. To: P1 AW SCi Ref. Date AY 16 2012 — 5/14/2012
