Subject: HSAC Communication 480-support for gm labeling
aloha from the garden island,
as a concerned resident of this state i am writing to ask you to support the rights of consumers to know
what is in the food we choose to eat. as the councils of maui and kauai have done, i ask that you
consider joining in supporting the GM labeling request as part of the 2012 HSAC package. this is item
of great concern for many and your support of the action to require GM products be labeled to allow
consumers to make informed decisions about the food they eat will help assure the public that food
products made with gm ingrediants are properly labeled.
the issues surrounding gm products are complex and passionately felt. this action to include in the
HSAC package will help to clear the air and allow for increased discussion and exchange of information
about gm agriculture. this action does not ban any substance but allows for government involvement in a
public health issue. kauai and maui residents have asked their representatives to move forward with the
process of labeling gm products for consumption. the people have a right to know and consumer health
should trump the profit motive of agricultural interests.
mahalo for your consideration and for allowing me to testify in support of including the gm labgl g c,
action in the 2012 HSAC package. _... can
with respect and aloha,
