reasons:
• ,t,:c bags are not biodegradable and stay in the environment for many years
• -1,, bags break down into smaller pieces that absorb toxic chemicals,are ingested by
;ife,and enter the food'chain that we depend on
• t 00 billion petroleum-based plastic checkout bags are used each year in the U.S.
ng an estimated 12 million barrels of oil annually
bags litter our streets,sidewalks,beaches,parks,and overall environment;they

• E bags make their way to our waterways and ocean where they never degrade and
become a persistent threat to wildlife
