I would like to support the following at your upcoming Council meeting:
Resolution 201-11 — Related to a 10 year contract for Organic Diversion & Compost Operations
Resolution 202-11 —Related to the 2-Bin Recycling Hauling Contract at the transfer stations
Bill 17 — Related to Plastic Bag Reduction
These are all important in moving the County towards Zero Waste. The Plastic Bag Reduction bill is
essential to ameliorate problems of sea turtle, seabird and other wildlife endangered by the bags, as
well as the horrifyingly huge plastic garbage patch gyrating in the Pacific not far from Hawaii. Organic
diversion, composting, and recycling are basic to a sustainable Hawaii.
