Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 775, reports as follows:
Communication 775, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, dated June 28, 2012,
authorizes the acceptance of a donation from Mr. Jim Lee of Signage and Beyond, the following
donation:
One new custom sign; valued at $700 to be utilized by the Hawaii Fire Department's Hawaiian
Paradise Park Fire Station. This portable, concrete sign comes with its own solar light so the
public can easily locate and identify the fire station in the daytime or at night.
Pursuant to Article XIII, Section 13-12, Hawaii County Charter, the Council, on behalf of the
County, may accept gifts or donations of money. Also, pursuant to Chapter 2, Article 30,
Section 2-162(c), Hawaii County Code, any donation or gift which does not fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance shall be submitted to the Council by
letter for its approval.
Deputy Fire Chief Glen Honda thanked Mr. Lee for his donation to the community.
A letter of appreciation and a copy of this resolution will be sent to Mr. Jim Lee of Signage and
Beyond, HCR 3 Box 13130, Kea'au, Hawaii 96749.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the acceptance of donation described above.
