Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. No. 769/Bill No. 276, reports as
follows:
Bill No. 276, transmitted by Mayor William P. Kenoi, via Communication No. 769, dated
June 22, 2012, is a Planning Director initiated ordinance amending Chapter 25, Article 2, Article
4 and Article 5, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as Amended), relating to Bed
and Breakfast Establishments. Also enclosed were favorable recommendations from the
Windward Planning Commission Chair Zendo Kern and Leeward Planning Commission Chair
Geraldine Giffin.
Planning Director Bobby Jean Leithead Todd was present at the West Hawai`i Civic Center and
stated that this bill was housekeeping in nature to clean up the language in the County Code. She
further stated that her department is currently working on several other housekeeping bills in an
effort to make the County Code more consistent.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill 276, and
recommends its passage on first reading.
