Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Legislature enacted Act 106, Session Laws of Hawaii, 2012, which
appropriated, in part, $303,177 for the County of Hawaii to continue its victim assistance
efforts through the Prosecuting Attorney's Office's Justice Reinvestment Initiative program.
The monies will be used to enhance victim notification, restitution collection, and victim
safety planning by funding six positions along with fringe benefits, operational supplies and
travel.
Enclosed is a resolution for Council's authorization to receive and expend state funding for
victim assistance efforts on the Island of Hawaii. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance
amending the operating budget by appropriating these funds into the Justice Reinvestment
Initiative account.
If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Nancy Kelly of the Prosecuting
Attorney's Office at 934-3315. •
