Subject: A Resolution Directing the Clerk of the County of Hawai`i to Take

Please find attached for the Council's consideration a resolution submitted pursuant to
Section 15-2 of the Hawai`i County Charter.
Section 15-2, Hawai`i County Charter, provides in part: "Upon adoption of an ordinance
proposing amendments or revisions of this charter, or upon determination that a petition
for proposed amendments or revisions of this charter contains the required number of
signatures, the council shall by resolution provide that the proposed amendments or
revisions be submitted to the electors of the county for approval at the next general
election.”
Due to the time-sensitive nature of this matter, I have requested waiver from the
Committee on Governmental Relations and will place this resolution on the Council
agenda for August 15, 2012.
Thank you.

RE: Cvmmnnica`ticrir, Resolution _ A Resolution Directing the Clerk of the County of
Hawai`i to Take Necessary Action to Place the Charter Amendment Proposed By
Ordinance No. 12-110 on the 2012 General Election Ballot
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Human Services, Social Services and Public Safety to the full
Council for immediate action. In reviewing this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore
advantageous that approval is granted and the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for
review. However, in the event this request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the
matter shall be referred to Committee on Human Services, Social Services and Public Safety for
placement on its future agenda.
Sincerely,
K. Angel Pilagfhair
