Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Comm. No. 777, reports as follows:
Communication No. 777 transmitted by Mayor Billy Kenoi, dated July 9, 2012, nominates
Adam Broderson of Council District 8 to the Kailua Village Design Commission (KVDC).
Mr. Broderson is a 34-year resident of Hawai`i. He is the owner of A. Broderson Landscape
Company, and has been involved in landscaping in Kona since the age of four when he started
going to job sites with his father, the owner of a landscaping company.
Mr. Broderson states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will replace
Riley Saito and will serve the remainder of the succeeding three-year term which will end on
December 31, 2014.
County of Hawai`i Planning Program Manager Bennett Mark introduced the nominee,
Mr. Broderson, who was present at the Kona Council Office. Mr. Broderson stated that he was
born and raised in Kailua-Kona and understands the beauty of the area. He also stated that he is
honored to serve on the KVDC.
Committee Chair Hoffmann stated that he hopes Mr. Broderson's term on the KVDC is effective
and worthwhile for both him and the Commission.
Mr. Broderson is not required to be present before the full Council for final confirmation.
