Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development, to which was referred Communication
No. 560, reports as follows:
Communication No. 560 is transmitted by Council Member Bobby Jean Leithead Todd, dated November
30, 1999, submitting for Council review and consideration Resolution No. 181-99, relating to support for
the continued publication of the Honolulu Star-Bulletin and urging Liberty Newspapers to actively seek a
buyer for the paper in order to preserve the publication of independent daily newspapers in the
community.
Your Committee on Human Services and Economic Development members are in unanimous accord
with Resolution No. 181-99, and recommend that Communication No. 560 be filed and that Resolution
No. 181-99 be adopted by the full Council at its next scheduled meeting.
