I have become friends with Colin Onaka and he was instumental in an excellent visit to Hawaii. I went hunting and harvested a good sheep and goat it was a lot of fun and the meat was good also. Being a Biologist myself and learning about your Islands was very educational. Colin contacted me about these bilss and asked my opinion and if I would relay that to you. I would have to say I do support both of these Bills for many reasons. First and foremost eventhough the wildlife on the Islands are all exotic (non-native) it should still have a value to the people. The necessity of using a helicopter and airial shooting can be an effective management tool in specific situations this does not sound like one of them. There is simply too much private land that contributes to the population of non-natives. A good wildlife management plan starting with a Game Management Advisory Commision sounds like a step in the right direction. There is many more beneficial reasons to approve both of these bills but for the sake of brevity I ask that you pass these Bills and start managing all the wildlife in a positive way that can be a value to all the Islanders and those that vist.
