I am a life long resident of the wonderful State of Hawaii, and have been an outdoorsman for all of the years that I can remember. Time spent in the outdoors is not only a hobby for many of the island's residents, it is their lifestyle. For many years the island's sportsmen and women have seen their rights as well as the natural resources available to them decline and in some cases taken away. Based on the current path we are on, one could surely imagine a day when our descendents may not be able to experience the same outdoor activities that we participate in today. Be it a return home from a successful hunting trip to Mauna Kea and the taking of a game animal to provide needed nourishment for our family. Or a day spent sport fishing in the calm waters off of the Kona coast, enjoying time with family and friends and going home with a lifetime's worth of fishing stories that we might tell over and over again to whom ever will hear them. The implementation of a Game Management Advisory Commission is an important step to preserving the lifestyle that many of us have come to know and love. The plants and wildlife on the land, and the fish and other aquatic life in the ocean are natural resources and should be treated as such. Who better than the people of our home island to advise other State and Federal agencies on the management of it's own game species. 2 Comm. t$9. 7`• Ref. To: r Ref. Date .JUN 0 2012 6/5/2012 Page 2 of 3 In conclusion I courteously ask for your support of Chairman Yagong's proposed County Charter amendment.
