- ,
here is a cut and paste of two comments i sent earlier that apparently did-,
not make it into the council records. i have added a third comment
Jocelyn may i ask you to confirm that these made it this time, please? ---
addition to the two cut and paste comments below i will start with a thir?
comment
Comment #3
i am shocked that the Planning Department and the Planning Commission
would allow such a development in the "Volcano Heritage Corridor", where
does an auto repair shop in front of an attractive residence on the Volcano
Road fit into this designation? in fact i did discuss this matter with a
member of the Planning Commission who was not aware of the location of the
project. the response i got was that "it was in the village" clearly it is not
and that member voted relying on faulty information

Comment #1 sent to council member J Yoshino with a copy to council

cp'eeting j from a normally quiet constituent of yours who is also a business
owner in your district, at least the last time i knew about the districts we
were in yours. i guess we won't really know until the next election, that
stuff is too confusing
one thing that is not confusing however is my horror at learning that the
council is wasting its time on this rezoning issue, why was this not simply
denied at the planning department or commission level?
i have just learned about what is being requested and am amazed that there
would be any such consideration, if approved this will simply put a
commercial development in as part of a very nice addition to our residential

community
truly, i cannot believe that any consideration is being given to this application.
there are innumerable commercial properties crying out for redevelopment in
Mountain View. please do not make this property commercial, if the owners want
to do business in Mountain View, i would welcome that, but please insist they do so
on the existing commercial property, not creating a new one and spoiling what is a
really nice residential addition to our community
all the best in the upcoming election

Comment #2, again sent to council member J Yoshino with a copy to council
testimony
greetings j
i am saddened to learn that this bill is all but a done deal
may i make one last plea to you for your help, please? let's try to "Keep Country
Country" as a favorite Puna bumper sticker says
in that respect may i ask that this item be sent back to the Planning Dept for
reconsideration after
1. the applicants have erected "story poles" that will show the outline of the
proposed structure both as a footprint and the height of the proposed
structure. this can be done in outline form with lumber that will be reusable
for construction so the expense is minimal
2. then can we ask the Planning Dept and the Planning Commission to review the
site and see if it still meets standards. i actually talked to one commissioner
who did not realize where the property was located! if we cannot rely upon
our Planning Dept and Planning Commissioners to enforce zoning regulations
and only make exceptions where there is a crying public need, why have
either activity? that could be an easy budget reduction if all these entities
are going to do is rubber stamp every application
f the bill must go forward and we can no longer remain "country" may i ask that
tiere be requirements placed on the approval

1. that this becomes simply a "Special Use Permit" (i think that is the right
term) thus ensuring that the applicant cannot just develop the property and
flip it to someone else. it the same permit that Akatsuka has for the
Orchid Gardens
2, that the area be brought up to city standards
a. paved road, that dirt lane will never cold up to extra traffic
b. curbs and gutters are installed
c. a sidewalk is added for the safety of the neighborhood children
d. No Parking signs are erected (and enforced) so that the business does
not spill over onto the narrow lane
thanks for taking the time with this. i am not even sure it is in your district, is it?
guess i am going to have to wait until i see if i have the privilege of voting for you
again. i really am at a loss to understand redistricting
all the best
graham
unfortunately i will not be able to attend the hearings as this is "Orchid Show
Week" and we are going to be incredibly overworked as it is. so i do have to rely
upon the system to work to ensure that my comments make it to the appropriate
people
thanks
graham
