SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT
HUALALAI STREET: Proposed No Parking Zone
We received a request to eliminate four (4) marked parking stalls on the Hamakua side of
Hualalai Street just mauka of Kilauea Avenue.
This request was investigated and we conclude the parking restrictions will improve traffic
operations and safety at the intersection of Kilauea Avenue and Hualalai Street. We also found
that there are other parking stalls approximately one-hundred feet away that are seldom used.
The Hawaii Police Department has been notified and they support this proposal.
We request the Hawaii County Code, Chapter 24, Article 10, Section 24-280, Schedule 28 (No
Parking at Anytime) under Hilo be amended by adding new item as described in the attached
draft for an ordinance.
