Your Committee on Public Works and Pazks, to which was referred Communication No. 84,
and attached Resolution No. 26-99, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 26-99 is to authorize the County, pursuant to Section 23-10 of
the Hawaii County Code, and Article XIII Section 13-12 of the Hawaii County Charter, to
accept a dedication deed transmitting real property for road and drainage purposes from Mauna
Kea Agribusiness Co., Inc., a Hawaii corporation. This dedication deed is for portions of the
Kaupakuea Homestead Road located in Makahanaloa, South Hilo, Hawaii, specifically
identified as Tax Map Key Nos: (3) 2-8-03-001 (portion), 2-8-04-001 (portion), and 2-8-07-
003 (portion).
Communication No. 84 is from Corporation Counsel Richard D. Wurdeman, dated
January 4, 1999, transmitting Resolution No. 26-99 for the Council's review and
consideration. Mr. Wurdeman states in his letter that the deed has been reviewed by the
Department of Public Works, Department of Water Supply, and Deparhnent of Planning, and
all have recommended acceptance of the dedication deed.
Council Members James Y. Arakaki and J. Curtis Tyler, III voted kanalua twice in support of
the measure, with reservations.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 26-99, and
recommends its adoption.
