Re: Operating Budget
The State Department of Transportation Public Affairs - Safe Community Program is
providing an additional funding of$12,417 to the Hawaii County Police Department's
Distracted Driving program. The grant funds will be used to allow the Hawaii County
Police Department to reduce the number of drivers using an electronic mobile device
while operating a motor vehicle and increase the number of electronic mobile device
citations. In the current fiscal year's budget, $25,500 was appropriated in anticipation of
this grant.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating the
additional funds into the Distracted Driving program account and bringing the total grant
appropriation to $37,917.
