Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawaii Department of Transportation is providing $22,956 to the Hawaii County
Police Department to be used to conduct their Youth Alcohol Deterrence program. The funds
will be used for underage drinking enforcement operations, to produce liquor violation and
other arrests during enforcement projects, and to use Public Service Announcements to
provide education and to encourage underage individuals not to consume alcohol illegally in
parks and public areas.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawaii Department of Transportation for this grant. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance
amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $22,956 Youth Alcohol Deterrence
grant.
