NO. 140 /RESOLUTION NO. 39-99 PLACE: Councilroom TIME: 9:03 a.m. Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 140, and attached Resolution No. 39-99, reports as follows: The purpose of Resolution No. 39-99 relates to the abandonment of a homestead road in Laupahoehoe adjacent to Tax Map Key (3) 3-6-09-031 (Laupahoehoe Police and Fire Station). Communication No. 140 is from Corporation Counsel Richard D. Wurdeman, dated February 1, 1999, transmitting Resolution No. 39-99 for the Council's review and consideration to abandon a portion of a 30-foot wide road right-of--way for the construction of the Laupahoehoe Fire Station. Deputy Corporation Counsel Gerald Takase informed Your Committee today that this road exists only on paper, and is therefore not in use, nor is it usable for transportation purposes for the general public. Council Member Curtis Tyler, III expressed concern regarding the ownership of the roadway therefore he voted kanalua twice on the measure. Mr. Takase stated that the County owns the roadway, and that it is on the roadway inventory of the Department of Public Works. Upon abandonment, the roadway will be placed on the Fire Department's roadway inventory.
