Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 299, and
attached Resolution No. 87-99, reports as follows:
The purpose of Resolution No. 87-99 is to extend the parking meter moratorium in the downtown
Hilo area, and requesting the removal of the parking meter heads.
Communication No. 299 is from Council Member Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd, dated May 14, 1999,
transmitting Resolution No. 87-99 for the Council's review and consideration.
Your Committee discussed this measure, and concluded that the parking meter moratorium should
be extended for another year ending on June 30, 2000 at 4:00 p.m. The Department of Public
Works along with the County Council will need to determine whether or not the parking meter
heads or the entire meter in itself should be removed.
Your Committee is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 87-99, as amended to
Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
