NO. 312 /RESOLUTION NO. 95-99 PLACE: Councilroom TIME: 8:35 a.m. Chair and Members Hawaii County Council Hilo, Hawaii 96720 Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 312, and attached Resolution No. 95-99, reports as follows: The purpose of Resolution No. 95-99 is to adopt the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for streets and sidewalks. Communication No. 312 is from Corporation Counsel Richard D. Wurdeman, dated May 26, 1999, transmitting Resolution No. 95-99 requesting that it be referred to the appropriate committee for the Council's review and consideration. Mr. Norman Olson, County of Hawaii ADA Coordinator informed Your Committee about the Settlement Agreement Release and Order filed in Alexa Russell, et a1. Vs. County of Hawaii, which requires the County to adopt aSelf-Evaluation and Transition Plan by July 2, 1999. Mr. Olson then introduced Mr. Earl Matsuoka of W ikon Okamoto & Associates, who informed Your Committee about the process of the self- evaluation assessment from the planning and engineering standpoint. Mr. Matsuoka then introduced Mr. Bill Hecker, ADA Consultant, who then provided Your Committee with a presentation on the final conclusion of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) Self-Evaluation and Transition Plan for streets and sidewalks for the County of Hawaii. Your Committee noted that the Department of Pazks & Recreation should be replaced with the Department of Public Works in the last "BE IT RESOLVED" paragraph.
