Your Committee on Public Works and Parks, to which was referred Communication No. 218,
and attached Bill No. 59, reports as follows:
The purpose of Bill No. 59 is to amend Chapter 24, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (1995
Edition), relating to vehicles and traffic requesting a 36-minute time limit parking zone
fronting Kawamoto Vegetable Store on Kilauea Avenue.
Communication No. 218 is from Jiro A. Sumada, Deputy Chief Engineer, dated
March 16, 1999, transmitting Bill No. 59, stating that the Hawaii Police Department requested
that the mauka side of Kilauea Avenue be converted to a time limit parking zone in front of
Kawamoto Vegetable Store. The proposed regulation is needed to provide additional vehicle
turnovers for business in the immediate area.
Your Committee is not in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 59, and recommends
that it be filed.
